We try to be super sensitive to budget. We work with a lot of designers, contractors, and homeowners. We understand what it takes to get a project across the finish line. Because of this, we have partnered up with vendors and sources that our competition doesn't understand or even know exists. This allows us to usually out perform the other guy. The hard part of custom work is knowing what the client wants and how we can delivery. There are different qualities of lumber, grades, and materials.

Here's a quick story, we recently had the opportunity to bid on a built in bunk bed for a contractor client. We bid the bunk bed completely turn key. Milling the material in our shop, pre-finishing (stain grade) in our facility, and assembling on site. The contractor got a competing bid that was 7k dollars less than ours. Needless to say, he went with theirs. The hard part about bids and estimates is, it's really hard to understand apples to apples comparison. This contractor didn't realize the competing bid was only for material and milling. No assembly or install. No finishing. By the time he finished the project, he ended 15k over our price. And the worst part? He had to rush to get it done. The sub-contractors he hired to assemble/install and to finish it, did a very poor job. We had installed the flooring on the job, so we were able to watch the progress.

Moral of the story? We will delivery. And we can hit a budget. But we need to have a dialogue open that goes back and forth. We will be as transparent as we can. We want to win your work. Why? Because it's fun. And we love to see something come together. We like to see something built. Something created.
