"I have to admit that my wife and I were not 100% certain that we wanted to change out all of the carpeted areas in our Avenues home. Our house is over 100 years old, and a real beauty. We wanted to make sure that the flooring we installed was beautiful and easy to clean, as we have three small dogs who have the run of the place.
Enter Vahe from VAMA Flooring. He talked us through the whole process, including guiding us to some very high quality laminate flooring that we thought would look beautiful both in the upstairs three bedrooms and our downstairs basement theater.

There were some unforeseen issues that came up during the installation, but the installers and Vahe himself kept us apprised of the progress every step of the way. They were very creative in literally rebuilding a stairwell down to the basement which took a lot of detailed work.

"When everything goes along smoothly it’s great and wonderful... but when there is a problem you don’t know how about the people you’ve chosen to work with will react. I was a difficult customer but Vahe was proactive about communication and was on time with scheduling. I can tell you that when there was a pretty big problem, Vama was still pleasant and understanding and helpful.
We ordered about 1500 ft.² of flooring. I could tell almost immediately after they started laying it that we had chosen the wrong color. I tried to rationalize and weigh the pros and cons of having them rip up what they had laid, and we finally decided we had to start over. It was completely our choice to change the flooring and I did so knowing we’d lose money on the change, but I was able to sell it on KSL to some freakishly lucky person and we felt it was better to do that than have to live with flooring that clashed with almost everything in the house.
I would strongly advise anyone buying flooring to take a sample of the baseboard or other wood in the house with you to the store when shopping to make sure it matches. I didn’t do that, I took home a sample of flooring from the store and put it in the bright sunlight next to the wood around a window in our house, didn’t try it in different locations around the house, and ended up with something that clashed everywhere. I believe if I would have started in the store with something from the house, I would never have headed in the wrong color direction in the first place.
The folks at Vama flooring were unable to take back the wrong color flooring we ordered because it was a special order. We had to sell what remained ourselves and order new flooring. However, Vahe and friends were very patient through the whole process of choosing different flooring, and gave me several price breaks on removing the wrong flooring and gave me an excellent price on the new flooring. Which we absolutely love.

"Solid Expertise and Honest Evaluation
I helped friends pull up carpet before Vama came to refinish their original hardwood, so I got to see the before and after, and it was stunning work. When I bought my house, I called to get an estimate on restoring wood floors: living room, hallway, 5 stairs, and 3 bedrooms (700 ft sq).
I'd called the exact week that they were moving showrooms to a new location. Even with all the craziness of moving a business, Vahe still came out on a Saturday (so much easier for my schedule!) to take a look and provide an estimate.
I really enjoyed talking with Vahe, and he was extremely concerned about the condition of the original hardwood floors. I had just finished pulling up the carpet and we could see the entire floor. The previous owners had sprayed the baseboards and got paint all over the wood floors (everywhere!!! they didn't care since they were slapping down carpet), not to mention several areas of water damage and cracked boards. The hallway was full of nail heads and in poor condition as well. Because the floors were only 1/2 in, had already be refinished several times, and the paint had seeped far, Vahe said that his company could not touch it because he already knew that it would not turn out well. They'd have to sand down so far that we'd be hitting the sub-nails.
He recommended waterproof vinyl (comes in wood prints that are practically indistinguishable from real wood!). He gave me a rundown on the pros and cons of the vinyl vs. hardwood (basically, vinyl wins in all categories, which I confirmed by my own research as well!). The only pro to hardwood is for people who really care about "real hardwood" even though it's not as durable, requires far more maintenance, is not even water resistant, is expensive, etc.
I can't express how much I appreciate Vahe's honesty in assessing the floor and the information he provided on better options. I HIGHLY recommend them, not only from my friend's experience but also from my own."

"We bought a used house that had very old and worn out carpet that we decided to replace, hopefully before moving in. I contacted Vama flooring and talked to Sam and explained the situation that we would like to replace our flooring within the next week and a half before we move in. "I found Vahe on Angie's list after a lot of research on flooring contractors in the SLC area. It was obvious that he put a huge effort into his website with a lot a attention to detail. I figured this was a great sign. Vahe came out to give me a big on about 2000 sq ft of flooring for a major remodel project on a home that I had just purchased. Being a new home owner, he did a great job of educating me on my flooring options and listened to what I wanted. I showed him samples of flooring I collected. He instantly knew what he would work for me. Vahe e-mailed me a bid that same evening, and his numbers fell right in the middle of what I was expecting. His bid was more thorough than others I had received.
Vahe's communication throughout the process was spot on. I got no surprises, and when my landlord pulled a fast one on us and had us move out early, he was able to work with me to allow for an unexpected move-in during the middle of remodeling.
