Milled from a single piece of wood. It can be sanded and refinished many times over its life, which is why a solid floor can last for generations.

Engineered Hardwood

A real wood top layer over a stable core. It handles changes in temperature and humidity well and comes in wide, long planks and many finishes.

Nail-down, glue-down and floating installs, done by our own crews from subfloor prep to the final piece of trim.

Sand & Refinish

Our Sand & Finish Process

Sanding and finishing a floor well is becoming a lost art, and it is something we take pride in. Our standard process includes three coats of finish. We recommend a two-component water-based finish because it has fewer VOCs, dries and cures faster, and does not yellow over time. Solid floors can also get maintenance coats along the way to keep them looking new.

Should I choose solid or engineered hardwood?

Solid hardwood can be refinished many times and lasts for generations. Engineered hardwood is more stable with changes in humidity, works over more subfloor types and comes in wider planks. We will help you choose based on your room, subfloor and budget.

Is it better to refinish or replace my hardwood floors?

If you have solid hardwood in reasonable shape, refinishing is usually more affordable, since demolition alone can push a replacement project over budget. A refinished solid floor can also be stained a new color.

What finish do you recommend?

We usually recommend a two-component water-based finish. It has fewer VOCs, cures faster and does not yellow over time.

Can I just buy hardwood from you?

Yes. You can purchase material from us for your own project, or have our crews install it for you.
